
Amodu who started his one week tour to England on Monday spoke from London that the form exhibited by most of the Super Eagles players is a sign of good preparation for both the international friendly against Columbia next Wednesday, and the last phase of the 2010 World/Nations Cup qualifiers which begins March next year. The former Orlando Pirates of South Africa gaffer further said the form of the players is a step in good direction for Nigeria’s campaign.
"The recent form demonstrated by the players is what the country needs as we intensify preparation for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers. Most of the players have picked up, and they are doing fine in their respective clubs. The skipper, Nwankwo Kanu played over the weekend for Portsmouth, Martins is not doing badly, while Mikel and other players are doing well for their clubs in England.
"Even outside England, the players are performing creditably well for their respective clubs, and it is something that gladdens my heart. As far as I am concerned, it is a good motivation ahead of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers next year."
Shuaibu Amodu is expected to visit major clubs in England during the six days visit. The likely clubs include: Mikel Obi’s Chelsea, Obafemi Martins’ Newcastle United, Manchester United, Portsmouth FC among others. The former BBC Lions chief Coach would leave England this weekend in preparedness for the international friendly against Columbia national team slated for next week Wednesday.
